Letter of Complaint
[Proper headings, dates, and indentation will
appear on all correspondence.]
Dear Sir
or Madame:
On the seventh of this month,
I placed a morning order through your online floral shop. I requested your
same-day delivery service, hoping to surprise a friend for her birthday. At the
end of the day, I discovered an email from you saying that my order had been
cancelled because the specified bouquet could not be created for the advertised
cost. I was further informed that I should re-order the same bouquet at a higher
price. Not only did my friend fail to receive the flowers I had hoped and
expected to offer her on her special day, I was left with a very unfortunate
impression of your business practices. Consequently, I am writing to express my
concerns and to request that you put this matter right.
Nowhere on your website do you offer a proviso
concerning possible reasons for order cancellation. In light of this fact, the
email response I received after placing my order could not fail to come as an
unpleasant surprise. Additionally, while I understand the need to make a profit,
a price advertised on a website should stand. If you are
not
prepared to stand behind listed prices, you have a responsibility to your
customers to maintain your website closely, changing prices and other pertinent
information as often as necessary to remain accurate. On the “About
Us” page of your website, you note your high reputation and assert that
customer service is your highest priority. Canceling my order without
forewarning of such a possibility is not good business practice. Nor is asking
me to pay a higher, unadvertised price after I've already been disappointed.
Attached please find copies of my
initial order receipt confirmation and the subsequent cancellation notice. In
light of the inconvenience caused by my recent experience with your online
store, I would very much appreciate a discount on my next order. Thank you for
your kind and prompt attention to this matter. I look forward to a satisfactory
resolution and the restoration of my faith in your
service.
Most sincerely,
Janet Smith
